Dog That Attacked Police Cars Must Attend Anger-Management Classes

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A pit bull mix in Tennessee has been sentenced to obedience training after his dogged attack on a local police car.

Winston didn’t bite anybody, but he mauled a Chattanooga police car in what might have been a confused attempt to take a bite out of crime. The persistent pooch managed to tear off a section of the front bumper and damage the tires.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that a judge ruled that Winston had been a very bad dog. He was sentenced to obedience and canine good citizen classes, and he’ll have to wear a tag that says he is “potentially dangerous.”

Charges against his owner will be dismissed if the classes are completed successfully.

Owner Nancy Emerling said Winston got out of a fenced-in area at a welding shop March 14.

Car Bought at Police Auction Lands Driver in Jail

A seized car bought at a police auction has landed the new driver in jail on drug charges, according to the driver.

Last September, Nancy Manchaca bought her 22-year-old son, Manuel Coronado, a car at a police auction so that he could get to and from class.

“He’s a college student. So, you know, I help him out as much as I can, help him get a car so that he can go to school,” said Manchaca.

Coronado was driving the car on Friday when he had a blowout and crashed into a truck along state Highway 121. The collison ruptured the dashboard and, much to Coronado’s surprise, out popped 21 individually-wrapped bags of heroin.

When officers arrived at the scene of the crash, Coronado was arrested on a charge of drug possession with the intent to distribute. He was later released after his mother posted a $20,000 bail.

“As soon as they arrested me, they just threw me right in the car and I had, after that, no say so,” said Coronado.

Coronado said he had no idea there were drugs in the car and believes whoever owned the vehicle before it was seized had stored the drugs in the dashboard.

A likely story that the Fort Worth police agree is plausible. Officials with the department said they visually inspect every seized car before the cars go to auction, but acknowledge that if the drugs are hidden well enough they could go undiscovered.

“We didn’t think about searching the car since we bought it at the police impound,” said Manchaca.

Aside from Manchaca and Coronado, the situation leaves many wondering why police didn’t further search the seized car with drug-sniffing dogs before releasing it to the auction and the general public. So far, officials have released no further statement regarding the car or the procedure for insuring the safety of the cars sold at auction.

Police said Coronado’s case is under investigation and the charges may be dropped. At this time, Coronado is unable to get his car out of the auto pound since it is now part of a narcotics investigation.

How to Hotwire a Car!

Disclaimer: This is only if you lost your keys. It is illegal to hotwire a car that is not yours. We, here at Junk Car Nation, do not condone any drunken joyrides with stolen vehicles. Unless you call us first.

1. Get your stuff together: You’re gonna need 1 flathead screwdriver with an insulated handle, 1 cordless drill and a small drill bit.

2. Time to get down and dirty: There is a flap at the end of the keyhole. Set the drill on the keyhole about 2/3 of the way up and drill in about the length of a key. This will destroy your lock pins and make the key switch able to be turned on and off without a key. Every pin has 2 sections, followed by a spring, so drill it more than once, removing the drill each time to allow the bits of the lock inside to fall into place.

3. The hard part is over: Insert the screwdriver in the keyhole the same way you would put your key in.  Since the pins are already broken, the screwdriver need not go in very deep.

4. Look out for COPS: Now,  just turn it and presto! Congratulations! You have just committed a felony. If it is indeed your car, you should probably know that this method of hotwiring will destroy your key switch and thus allow  anyone with a screwdriver to  steal your car. Good times.

OR YOU CAN JUST USE YOUR CELL PHONE!
